Tocopherols and tocotrienols as vitamin E
Introduction Vitamins are chemical compounds which are components of coenzymes and non-protein ingredients of enzymes. They are essential for life and normal functioning of the body. Vitamins are supplied with food as they cannot be synthesised by the body [1]. Bad diet, impaired vitamin absorption or the use of substances such as caffeine, nicotine and medicines may lead to hypovitaminosis, th...
متن کاملRice antioxidants: phenolic acids, flavonoids, anthocyanins, proanthocyanidins, tocopherols, tocotrienols, γ-oryzanol, and phytic acid
Epidemiological studies suggested that the low incidence of certain chronic diseases in rice-consuming regions of the world might be associated with the antioxidant compound contents of rice. The molecules with antioxidant activity contained in rice include phenolic acids, flavonoids, anthocyanins, proanthocyanidins, tocopherols, tocotrienols, γ-oryzanol, and phytic acid. This review provides i...
متن کاملPyridinium based ionic liquids as promoters for a green and selective synthesis of N-monomethylanilines
Pyridinium based ionic liquids derived from β-picoline and n-alkylbromides were synthesized by a simple procedure at ambient temperature and then characterized. These neutral ionic liquids were investigated for their dual role as the solvent and promoter for the selective synthesis of a series of N-monomethylanilines using dimethylcarbonate as the methylating agent. A solvent free gree...
متن کاملImidazolopyrazinones as potential antioxidants.
A series of imidazolopyrazinones 3, substituted at C-2, and C-2/C-6, has been prepared. The compounds behaved as quenchers of superoxide anion. The more active compounds are structurally related to coelenterazine, a natural substrate of marine bioluminescence. Theoretical parameters based on Hartree-Fock instabilities have been examined.
متن کاملAntioxidants as Chemopreventive Agents for Breast Cancer
In the last decade the simplistic, stepwise concept of initiation, promotion, and progression has matured to a better understanding of the genotypic changes that ultimately lead to cancer. The hypothesis has been proposed that it may be possible to intervene pharmacologically during this process and that carcinogenesis may be arrested or reversed by synthetic or naturally occurring agents. Evid...
